I just moved to Chicago. In May of 2006. I’m a graphic designer, and I can’t help but snap pictures of cool or quirky type. And there’s plenty of it in Chicago. So, I made a simple site to share it: Chicago Type. It’s mostly storefront type and I’m really into the quirky or hand done stuff. There’s quite a bit here in Chicago is that’s pretty old.

I kept driving by this on the way out to Midway, and finally stopped to shoot a pic. But The King Himself came out and shooed me away.

This example has the added benefit of the delectable illustrations.

This is right by my house. The Electric Motor Company. An uninspired name, but some very inspired letterforms.

Nicely hand done billboard. Not sure what a “free will” car wash is…

Anyways, it’s a work in progress so check it out and check back often.
