This person is making my humble efforts at Chicagotype look like kids’ stuff. Not only has he/she (there’s not biographical info) been doing this for 10 years, but he/she took a road trip across the US expressly to capture these amazing images. While they are ostensibly about “documenting” vernacular typography, I think they’re equally or more valuable as art in and of themselves. The thoughtful crops and impeccable compositions make them more like little Jasper Johns paintings than a mere record of disappearing artifacts.
